Makes my work go smoothly and uninterrupted by trips to the post office

In addition be being an author, I also have a home office in which I do legal typing for attorneys in solo practices, which generates A LOT OF PAPER and correspondence. Stamps.com has consistently saved me time, money, gasoline, and having an horrific meltdown from standing in line at the post office. I'm sure other post office customers are relieved also.

Pros

It's quite easy to use, ordering supplies is simple and they arrive within a couple of days at the most. I especially like being able to print mail on either blank stamps or envelopes, and if necessary, print out parcel post mailing labels. It's also very helpful with keeping an online "meter" of my funds balance and allowing for instantly adding to my funds without having to leave the page. This program is one of the best time savers I use.

Cons

I use two different printers: an inkjet for printing individual stamps and a laser printer for printing the postage on envelopes, so I have to be careful to make sure the correct printer is indicated for the proper function. Not much of a problem, though, and everything else far outweighs this minor annoyance.

Turnkey point-and-click shipping for novices

I've set up Stamps.com shipping at several businesses now and it's always the first shipping software I select when setting up a new shipping operation. Ease of use and setup are huge pros for this software

Pros

Super easy to use and setup. You can be shipping your product on day one and having the Post Office deliver products to your customers. Just point n' click!

Cons

It's limited in other software integrations, but by the time you need those, you'll be ready for the next level of shipping software. For the ecommerce entrepreneur shipping from their basement, Stamps.com is all you need.

Alternatives Considered

ShippingEasy and ShipStation

Reasons for Switching to Stamps.com

In my opinion, Stamps.com is easier to use than competitive products. Additionally, it receives official support and integrates directly with the USPS.

Stamps.com Business Owner Review

I had a good experience with Stamps.com. It was and is vital to my small business and helped me fulfill many orders.

Pros

I like that the software is straightforward. I was able to get customer service when I needed it. I like that the software easily connects to 3rd party applications.

Cons

I found it hard to make changes or cancel my account. I wanted to try other options and had to call customer service to make those types of changes and it wasn't really easy to do so. I also think it is expensive as a baseline software because to effectively use it, you have to basically use a 3rd party application, and that other app also charges fees too.

Alternatives Considered

ShipStation and Quickbooks Online

Reasons for Switching to Stamps.com

Stamps.com was vital to being able to use the other 3rd party apps. I was not able to bypass Stamps.com. I have used Stamps.com for all of my e-commerce needs.

A well-known shipping service, but there are better options out there

On a basic level, Stamps.com delivers on the promise to let you generate shipping label from home quickly, but I was disappointed to discover the subscription fee. I also found it difficult to cancel duplicate labels. I feel like the company did a good job getting its name out there, but the service itself needs some improvements.

Pros

If you listen to any podcast, odds are that you heard of Stamps.com. The company certainly did a media blitz that convinced me to try shipping through a website. At first, I liked the convenience of shipping through a site. All you needed is a scale and a credit card and you were on your way. Stamps.com also gives new users free credit after the first shipment and I liked that.

Cons

I had no idea there were subscription fees until Stamps.com charged me 50 bucks out of the blue. Cancelling the service wasn’t easy and removing my credit card required an email to customer service. The whole thing felt predatory if I’m honest. I was incredibly disappointed in my experience.

Old Software But Saves Us Lots Of Money

We've used Stamps.com for 15 years. One one hand it's outdated, on the other it does the job and saves us on shipping. The deal that they offer us on UPS shipping, alone, saves us a ton of money.

Pros

Stamps.com has some great benefits. It offers a number of shipping options - for us the important ones are USPS, which we use for over half of our shipments, and UPS, which is about 40% of our shipments. Being able to see which service is cheaper, all in one place at one time really saves us over $1000 a month.

They have negotiated great prices with UPS that we couldn't get on our own.

Their address correction isn't perfect but it catches a number of mistakes. You just need to see if their correction makes sense - especially when the customer uses non-standard addressing for apartment or unit numbers.

Cons

We have to cut and paste addresses. We are looking forward to updating our site and using software that will auto fill addresses and save us time. Stamps.com is trying to get us to use ShipStation but until we also change out cart that won't save us any work.
